We've just finished an overnight trip in Khao Sok National Park. The park is dominated by Cheow Lan Lake which was created by a hydro dam project. The park is covered in steep limestone mountains and thick jungle and supposedly contains more than 5% of species on earth.
We stayed at one of the floating hotels on the lake which took an hour long boat ride to reach. The scenery is really spectacular with huge cliffs covered in trees.
We kayaked by ourselvesffor a bit after arriving at the hotel. It was a strange feeling paddling up to the shore knowing that a tiger or leopard might possibly be hidden in the trees. We did see some monkeys - a bug family of Dusky Langur which we found right beside the hotel as we got back.
